This shrub was growing in a square of waste land in Bangalore. The flowers attracted butterflies.
Please help with the ID.

Looks like Solanum erianthum (= S. verbascifolium).
 
The leaf is rolled and used as thread (and it lits!) in oil lamp during some festivals by malayali tribes in TN.

This is indeed Solanum erianthum D. Don [Syn: Solanum mauritianum Blanco non Scop.; Solanum verbascifolium auct. non L.]
