Ozothamnus diosmifolius (Vent.) DC. (Syn: Gnaphalium diosmifolium Vent.; Helichrysum diosmifolium (Vent.) Sweet, is an erect shrubby plant native of Australia, usually with white flowers and popularly known as Rice Flower. Pink flowered cultivar, 'Dark Pink' is popular in cultivation here in Fremont, California, sharing the same.

Nidhan ji,  because closed flower buds are compact and white, look like rice grains in species which in wild has white flowers.
