I found banglapedia very useful as it gives the English names of so many local greens and vegetables.

The link http://banglapedia.search.com.bd/HT/V_0030.htm tells us that Shakalu is "Yam bean"  in English...and its botanical name is Pachyrrhizus tuberosa.
So may be you can update that discussion with this information...if u find it correct.
