Sir / Madam,
Found this grass in an uncultivated land. Don't know if the last pic (grass_11jul12_DSCN6887.jpg) is of the same species. Also found a scaly breasted munia feeding on its grains.
Species : Echinochloa crus-galli (L.) P.Beauv. ???
Habit & Habitat : grass, about 4 feet high, moist place in an uncultivated land
'Creating awareness of Indian Flora & Fauna' The whole world uses my Image Resource of more than a thousand species & eight thousand images of Birds, Butterflies, Plants etc. (arranged alphabetically & place-wise): http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:J.M.Garg. You can also use them for free as per Creative Commons license attached with each image.
Thank you Garg Sir for taking care of this species. I have forwarded a mail where Anil Ji identified this grass as Echinochloa crus-galli. I convey my heartiest gratitude to Anil Ji.
Regards,
Surajit Koley

The last one is also Echinochloa crus-galli - usually called Barnyard millet (found as a weed and some of its varieties are also cultivated in the hills)
