It is valued for its highly nutritious, gluten-free seeds rich in proteins, minerals, antioxidants, and dietary fiber. The flour is widely consumed during fasting festivals in India and is considered beneficial for diabetes, heart health, and digestive wellness.

In Rajasthan, Fagopyrum esculentum is not a major commercial crop because of the state’s hot and arid climate. However, it may be cultivated on a limited scale in cooler hilly areas such as parts of Mount Abu and used mainly as a specialty health food."
