very nice, Dinesh, we have a few people at the local Hort who grow them in pots, look spectacular  when a large fruit hangs unbelievably in a 8 inch pot ...  next time I'll photograph it... and not pass it by as a common event.

Dear friends, and Garg ji,

I am correcting my words in earlier response:

The main posted picture as well as the following one - both seen on Jan 11, 2009 ... at Chinchoti, Maharashtra are not of Citrus maxima (Burm.) Osbeck
Many thanks to  Scott K. Johnsgard ji for correcting the ID at iNaturalist.
He suggested it to be Crescentia sp.
I believe it must be Crescentia cujete L.

The other two photos of Feb 20, 2012 ... at Netorli, Goa, are of Citrus maxima (Burm.) Osbeck

Regards.
Dinesh

Dear Dinesh ji,
Regarding Kannada names ಚಕೋತ ಹಣ್ಣು cakota hannu .  Kannada name is correct. English transliteration need to be corrected as Chakotha hannu.  This is the correct form.
Thanks & Regards,
Dr.M.Swamy
