Please help identify this sub-shrub. Picture taken in Kalakkad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve at Tirunelveli district in TN.

Altitude: 500-700 msl

Date: 28/08/2009

p.s: I also found this plant flowering in plains of Satyamangalam forest division [western part of Tamil Nadu]

Hi Muthu, it is Kleinia (= Notonia) grandiflora of Asteraceae; a potential ornamental plant.

Kleinia grandiflora (Wall. ex DC.) Rani locally called as 'Maan Sevi' meaning 'Ear of Deer', and also called Tael Kadipoondu.

'Kleinia grandiflora' is called 'Vander Roti' 'वांदर रोटी' in Marathi.
