It is Kallstroemia pubescens (G.Don) Dandy (Zygophyllaceae)!
This annual procumbent herb is found in Maharashtra, Bihar and West Bengal.

Good morning Sir,

This seems to me Kallstroemia pubescens (G.Don) Dandy.

Last year Datla Sir (Dr. D. C. S. Raju) asked me (for my use) to find a copy of "Flora of Howrah District" by S. S. R. Bennet. I tried hard to find a copy in bookstores + online stores, but failed.

This plant has been reported in the above book - http://www.indianforester.co.in/index.php/indianforester/article/view/25496.

Thank you,

Regards,
surajit

Giby Sir,

It's very nice to hear you after a long time. I miss you.

And, surely it is Calotes versicolor, male in breeding season.

Thank you very much.

very nice and almost complete with green immature fruits
Now I want to see the mature fruits!!!

and seeds////

The Book that you mention is a 1979 publication, I am a little confused as to its unavailability...   It was this Mr Bennet's PhD thesis (1970)  at Calcutta University.. the book is a revised thesis....

I'll try and see if Presidency college (now Univ) will have a copy perhaps.. and may be it can be read by borrowing??
(wORLD cATALOGUE FINDS THEM IN TWO iNDIAN uNIVSITIES ((

1         1    Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University  CCSHAU  Hisar, 125004 India

2    G B Pant University of Agriculture and Technology    GBPUAT   Uttarakhand, 263 145 India  ))

I wonder if any body can borrow the book to read from them????  May be Gurcharanji would know???

New York Botanical garden has one, but since its too new I am sure it will not be digitized yet its not been digitized ..copyright is still active.

I just found its publisher:
so spoke with them, they'll send a catalogue and a pricelist...
I 'll share the info here...

this Dr Bennet also wrote some very interesting other books like Bamboos of India etc.. and renaming of flowering plants of india...

untill then

..  so I'll try it again

Usha Di,

The book can be obtained from - http://www.saujanyabooks.com/details.aspx?id=15951

But do not know if the website is reliable enough

Yes Surajit....
the publisher lists it as price 1500 INR, and this Suajanya books wants 1700+... big difference
plus the publisher is talking about some discount for me ! bojo tthela!!!
the publisher told me they have sold lots of copies to all kinds of colleges, universities and libraries in india ... so they think we should be able to find one library that can let us borrow the book and look up our queries...
he said he knows individuals can not buy such steep price book for asmall regfional botany book...

so the suajanya is not a viable option....

did you already buy it from sujanya site?

We have a copy of the Flora of Howrah District by Bennet, in our library. May be consulted if required in future.
Thanks for completing the morphology of this less known species. Great efforts.

Thank you very much Rawat Sir. Till now I have seen them in three places, all along rail-tracks, in Hooghly. Indian Railway surely helps propagate plants! These days I have been noticing dense vegetation of Euphorbia heterophylla along the tracks.
