Dear all,

I noticed this herb in a coastal sandy beach. Please help to identify this Rubiaceae member.

Is this Hedyotis graminifolia L.f. var. graminifolia ?

Date/Time-	13/5/2008 3:30 pm
Location- Place, Altitude, GPS-	Cuddalore Dist, TN (near Pondicherry)
Habitat- Garden/ Urban/ Wild/ Type-	Sandy beach
Plant Habit- Tree/ Shrub/ Climber/ Herb-	herb
Height/Length-	up to 5 m
Leaves Type/ Shape/ Size-	slightly scrabrous; oblong; acute apex
Inflorescence Type/ Size-	Terminal; 2-3cm long
Flowers Size/ Colour/ Calyx/ Bracts-	ca.0.3 cm across; white
Fruits Type/ Shape/ Size Seeds-
Other Information like Fragrance, Pollinator, Uses etc.-

Dear Muthu,

I too think this plant is Hedyotis graminifolia L.f. var. graminifolia a vey common plant in Eastern Ghats as well in West bengal.
