with white flowers for id
garibans, singalila national park
tall trees over twenty five feet
unfortunately because of the rains most flowers had fallen

second week of april this year

It is Rhododendron falconeri (Ericaceae). Pl. take it as confirrmed id. as I already studied. Actually its area of distribution in Darjeeling Himlaya starts from Tonglu and up to Gairibans, Dodhrey-Tonglu Rd, Tumling-Gairibans rd. Now the species is not common at all.

I find it closer to R. grande rather than R. falconeri as per images at the links.
