Evergreen shrub with lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate leaves, up to 5 cm long, densely arranged, strongly scented when crushed; flowers whiteor pinkish, 2-2.5 cm across; stamens many, inj several series, longer than petals; fruit a berry, 10-12 mm long, blue-black, crowned with persistent calyx lobes.
Mediterranean species, widely cultivated in Europe. Grown in Iqbal Garden, formerly Hazuribagh in Srinagar, Kashmir. Photographed in August, 2011
