Place: Kaas Plateau, Approx. 24 kms north of Satara, Maharashtra.
Location of flower / plant: Road side bushes

Date: 29th to 31st Aug'08

Equipment: Canon 40 D Camera + Tamron 90 mm macro lens

Species: Zingiberaceae

ID Help required : Hitchenia caulina or Kaempferia scaposa ??

Notes: Gregarious, was found on lateritic slopes near Kaas village.

Shape of the flowers look different in both the pictures. Are they not different?
2nd pictures looks like Hitchenia caulina (Chawar) as per Shrikant ji's book.

Indian arrowroot
Marathi name is Chawar
Pl,. refer Flowers of sahyadri
