Place: Kass Plateau, Approx. 20 kms north of Satara, Maharashtra.

Location of flower / plant: on moist grassland near fresh water stream.....we found several of these on the Kaas plateau.

Date: 5th Oct, 2008

Equipment: Canon 40 D Camera + Tamron 90 mm macro lens

Species: Ceropegia jainii

Local name (Marathi) : Jaini Khachudi
English Common name: Jaini Ceropegia

Notes: Jaini Ceropegia is a very rare and threatened herb, endemic to the Sahyadri Hills. It is a small erect herb, 10-20 cm high, with tuberous root. Sometimes the flower is completely purplish-red. Flowering: August-October.
