... the leaves made me remember Rubus species like R. niveus ... my thoughts may not be connected to actual ID.

       They are wild Rasberries. Have also sampled them at Pangot.

We saw ( and ate) wild raspberries on our Kodai to Munnar trek this month, but they were orange. Are these a different variety?
