India Flora Online does not give its distribution here as per
https://indiaflora-ces.iisc.ac.in/herbsheet.php?id=12862&cat=13

Keys at book link Flora of Peninsular India. However, these are not followed as per efi thread (According to Pant (2000) in Flora of India, Vol. 5, these two are treated as different species but Singh & Vajravelu (2005) in Flora of Kerala treated these two species as polymorphic species of A. cobbe. They stated that phenetically Allophylus consists of single species as A cobbe. Leenhouts (1967) also stated Allophylus cobbe as polymorphic species having some local races as A. serratus, A. rheedii.)

We have followed the above. So I will consider this as

Sir, in the context of my confusion regarding the Allophylus species, I would like to quote a portion from the book Bengal Plants Vol I by David Prain.

Can anyone please confirm if the variety mentioned here, Allophylus cobbe var. glabra, is currently elevated to species rank? Is it Allophylus triphyllus now ? The location mentions Sundribans, I have recalled the location, Bak khali, South 24 paraganas district, West Bengal. I think respected Kasaju sir has a point here. Requesting Garg sir to look into this further? Thank you.

Thanks for this interesting thread!

No, Allophylus cobbe var. glabra has not been elevated to species rank; it is still considered a variety within the highly polymorphic species Allophylus cobbe. While there is discussion about the taxonomic treatment of its many forms, there is no evidence to suggest it is now Allophylus triphyllus.
