Had been to Kass Plateau, approx. 20 kms north of Satara city.......

And what a place it is...... this lateretic rich plateau has an amazing variety of wild flowers, we could get about 80 species in 2 days......

This is the first image from amongst the several that I could manage ;-)

Place: Kass Plateau, Approx. 20 kms north of Satara, Maharashtra.

Date: 29th to 31st Aug'08

Equipment: Canon 40 D Camera + Tamron 90 mm macro lens

Species: Impatiens oppositifolia

Notes: It was an experience to see how this flower showered its pollens on the back of the ant when the ant was busy taking its reward.....you can see the pinkish pollen laced on the back of the ant.....

The Kas plateau has very less of butterfly activity....maybe because high winds on the top prevent the butterfly activity here ??

Warm Regards,
