Hello friends

This was clicked at Rajgad near Pune, Maharashtra in December 2014.
I initially thought this to be Tricholepis amplexicaulis, but it is not.
I recently posted a T. amplexicaulis and this looks definitely different.

Requested to please ID.

Thanks and regards
Alka Khare

Saroj ji, these were bigger than the Cyanthilium cinereum that I know. Could it be something else?

Thank you.

I am not sure; my guess is Phyllocephalum lilacinum (Dalzell & A.Gibson) S.M.Almeida & M.R.Almeida

A detailed description can be found in Dr Almeida's flora which I don't have with me right now.
Syn. Centratherum tenue C.B.Clarke in Compos. Ind.: 4 (1876) and  Phyllocephalum tenue (C.B.Clarke) Narayana in Curr. Sci. 51: 439 (1982).
I found this link online:
The phyllaries are quite different from P. scabridum and flowers are smaller. Overall the plant is noticeably different and has been a source of confusion for a long time.
Please see detailed photos of what I believe is P. lilacinum according to Dr Almeida's description.

I am copying this mail to Sushant More, who might have more inputs.

regards
Radha
