Dear Friend,
                     Flowering season of Schefflera actinophylla (UMBRELLA TREE ) is over at Cooch Behar.Fruits have appeared on the scene.Some birds have started visiting.Attaching an image of Bluethroated Barbet on the fruits of Umbrella Tree.

Dear Friend,
                  Attaching an image of a Common Mime butterfly on the flower of Bottlebrush.I have recorded 10 situations of symbiosis with Common Mime.The score of Bottlebrush is 13 butterflies..

                    Attaching an image on symbiosis,in which a Bluethroated Barbet is relishing fruits of Flacourtia jangomas(PUNEALA PLUM).Known as Paniala in Assam and Bengal.This tree used to be very common in Northern part of West Bengal (Jalpaiguri,Cooch Behar etc) and Assam.Now it is rare atleast at Cooch Behar.I have recorded 8 differnt birds having feast on Paniala.Score of Bluethroated Barbet is 62 fruits.

Dear Friend,
                    Attaching an imge on symbiosis,in which an Alexandrine Parakeet is feeding on the fruits of Lagerstroemia speciosa (syn Lagerstroemia flosreginae),commonlly known as Queen's Flower.This plant is known as Jarul in Hindi and Bangla.Incidentally the dry fruits are used in dry flower arrangement and sold in big cities.

Nice photograph Colonel. Was aware that the dried flowers were sold as floral arrangements, but was not aware that the fruit were a food source for any birds. Thanks for this information. Will keep a look-out in future.

                    Attaching an image on symbiosis in which a female of a Koel is eating the fruit of Coccinia grandis.This climber is commonly known as Ivy Gourd.It is known as Bimb/kachri in Hindi and Telakucha in Bangla.Male and female flowers grow on separate plants.
