Greetings teachers of physics!

I was recently contacted by the director of the Indiana University High School Online program about an opportunity to teach part-time physics. Please see Rhonda's note below.

Thanks
Spencer

Are you passionate about education and looking for a flexible way to support students beyond the traditional classroom? IU High School Online (IUHS) is currently seeking part-time instructors to teach asynchronous online high school courses and we’d love to connect with educators like you!

Whether you're currently teaching in a brick-and-mortar school or managing other professional commitments, this remote opportunity offers the flexibility to fit your schedule while making a meaningful impact.

We’re especially interested in licensed Indiana educators who:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in the subject area (a Master’s degree is a plus!)

  • Have experience with online or asynchronous instruction

  • Are committed to providing timely feedback, engaging with students, and upholding IUHS's pedagogical practices

Hours vary based on the number of courses you teach, and we’re happy to discuss compensation and scheduling in more detail with those who are interested.

If you’re curious to learn more or want to explore this opportunity, feel free to reach out to Rhonda Bates, Director of IU High School Online and Partnerships at rhb...@iu.edu.

Best,

Hello!

I just want to let everyone potentially interested in this job opportunity to know that my husband and I created the physics courses IU is using for this program last year and the year before and this is the first we’re hearing they need people. And that the coordinator for it is no longer Rebecca.

Last year, zero kids signed up for both the AP C courses and for AP 1. Zero. Only 20 for the base physics course. This was in part due to the home schools having control over the AP classroom and not the instructors (us). There is no plan to fix this either since all of our potential students are across Indiana and to sign up for the AP courses they can’t travel to one location for testing (apparently) at the end. So the current plan is that they signed up individually through their school coordinator and we (the instructors) would have no access to AP Classroom or their AP Exam scores.

They emailed out of the blue last month wanting College Board exam questions with keys added to the courses. We refused (because AP is proprietary and cannot be shared like that) and now they’re hiring?

This is all very odd.
