Ajax and selenium

Hi all,
         Can anyone please let me know how to test this feature.

1)Go to http://atlas.mapquest.com/, will land up in home page.
2)Click on home page on any country, say for ex: United states. You vll see a pop-up(This call is ajax based.)
3)when i tried to automate it, click action is not functioning.

   Can anyone tell me how to do it.
