I have been trying for a long time to categorize recruitment in terms
of how we approach it. I have got a relatively clearer picture after
the demand for man-power has shot up sky high from all ends.

Mostly, as time demands, we tend to do position-centric hiring, where
we primarily try to focus on filling up positions with the right
candidates. The second, less prevailing way of hiring is resume-
centric, where the right job for the resume has to be found. I have,
as most others, been predominantly following the former until
recently. With the recent increase in positions that I am handling, it
has become quiet difficult for me to focus on all the position on the
same day. Hence, I have resorted to more emphasis on networking where
I give my visiting card to all the people that I meet, and ask them to
refer to me anyone that is looking for a job. This recent change in
approach has my inbox flooded with mails/messages all the time. I have
discplined myself by devoting dedicated hours in screening all the
resumes and checking fitment across all the available positions.

This has helped me in building a more diverse database. I have ensured
devoting sometime talking to every candidate and understanding what
they were really looking for. This has actually enabled me
contributing a lot more in hiring for the company than otherwise would
have been able to.

Please contribute if you think there are other types of hiring that we
do.
