Question: What would you say to doing freelance recruitment, of the
kind that I discussed in the post prior to this one (Refer:
http://groups.google.com/group/indian-recruiters/browse_thread/thread/4e92a45a36288f8d/#).
I have this trust worthy proprietor of a consultancy who is running
short of recruiters to work in his premises. I proposed to him that I
would have him introduced to a whole bunch of sharp recruiters who
focus on just one technology or vertical of hiring. He was okay with
the idea.
*The go behind the game* is the same. He gives the recruiter he places
50% of the money earned. The front-ending of clients, and scheduling
interviews would be his job. All the freelancers have to do is
1. Choose the job requirement that one would want to work on.
2. Stick on to the SLA of not proposing more than 4 candidates for
one position
3. Sell the job and the client to the candidates
4. Transition the coordination part of the interview process ot the
PoC (point of contact) at the consultancy, sit back and relax.
The PoC at the agency will give timely updates on the status of the
candidate, and hence you would not have to worry about what is
happening with your candidate, viz., a mail every Wednesday on the
status, or a mail when an interview is scheduled or a feedback is
received etc. (This part is yet to be formalized).
And the money is 50% on the revenue earned.
Meaning.. if X is the CTC, and x% is the positions deal, then you get
[ (xX/100) (1+ (service tax/100) ] / 2
Hence, if the CTC of a candidate be 12 LPA, and the service charge of
the consultancy be 8.33%, then the revenue (pre-service tax) is 1 Lakh.
And lets assume 10.2% as the service tax, and hence the revenue
generated would be 1.12 Lakhs, and your share comes to INR 56000/-.
*How does that sound?*
If anyone is interested in this proposal, post a reply with a note on
what other terms you would want to add on to the above.
Note: 1) The job descriptions would be posted on a page on the website
of the consultancy, and would be shared exclusively with the
freelancers. 2) The freelancers can choose the jobs they want to work
on. 3) The resumes shall be sent to the PoC with the code(s)
(mentioned in the website. Plural, because you may propose the
candidate for the positions, with different clients). 4) You receive
your cheque in one week after the payment is made by the client to the
consultancy. 5) You may work from whereever you are, using your
present employers resources for this purpose is at your own risk!! ;-)
If there be any other terms that you would want to put, then mention it
when you reply to this post.
The idea behind opening up this kind of a scheme is to:
1) Open up a new resume source for the vendor
2) To promote freelance recruitment to the maximum extent possible
without the limitation of problems faced in managing clients (which I
certainly have started to face)
3) To see how an unorganized organization actually would function.
Another set of notes:
1) Payments would be subject to signing of payment vouchers (so that
the consultancy fellow doesn't have to cough up taxes even for the
money he spent (truly) on expenses on services rendered.
2) You handle your own taxes, make black money if you choose to..
(Note: This comment does not intend to instigate any person(s) from
defaulting his/her taxes)
Yeah! thats about it. Let me know your thoughts and interest. I
understand that everyone has a tight schedule to squeeze out time into
this extra-money activity, but the idea is... there are many instances
when you get an irrelevant, yet good resume from unexpected fronts that
might actually encash pretty neat figures.
Please pool in your thoughts.
PL&E
I am very much interested in this venture, I remember with sanketh
couple of placments happening fat checks being sent across. The venture
being very interesting though I could not invest much time on it. With
a full time consultancy frontending the operation I think I would be in
a position to send validated resumes for the positions I choose to work
on. I agree that the idea of SLA of two resumes per position with in 5
working days would be a litumus test to sepparate the good recruiters
from the not-so-good recruiters.
Count me in please send me the list of reks to my personal email
address.
Thanks

I am glad to see a lot of personalized notes on willingness to work as
freelancers. I would like to have all those who have expressed interest
(on the forum, and through personalized mails) that I will share the
contact information of the proprietor of the consultancy with you
shortly.
I would also like to remind everyone that the freelance recruitment
option that is available with this consultancy is not associated with
the forum in anyways, and hence if any coordination be required from my
end, it would have to be through personal mails along.
I would like to remind everyone that this forum's primary intention is
to discuss how recruitment and related standards can be defined to the
advantage of freelancers and aspiring freelance recruiters. Feel free
to mail me (personal ones, by clicking on "Reply to Author") in case
you have any doubts.
Also, I would like to inform you all that the job descriptions of the
various requirements available with the consultant would be shared with
interested parties directly by the consultant (unless and until my
intervention is essential), and also that I am not in anyways involved
in the transactions, and hence it would be direct dealings everyone
would have with that person/firm.
Also, you may note that I am here (available on personal mails) to
discuss anything further, and that, the intention of this group shall
not waiver because of any reasons pertaining to any ventures anyone
would like to take further. In that case, I am okay with moderating
another group dedicated for that purpose.
