I am sure that none of us is having a cake walk time with hiring.
Either it is because of the quality of applicants or no-shows (for
interviews or on joining dates). Then, how do we hire?
What more is the question? Is hiring as a corporate internal recruiter
worth the time and money? While billings on candidates would run into
lakhs, is it worth being associated with some fancy company with a
fixed salary, or is it better to work on a retainer fee with a %age on
the CTC of offered candidates?
Eventually, as recruiters, we are caught in the midst, either work for
fancy corporates without the actual money associated with/in
recruitment, or work for consulting firms under a capitalist boss, for
whom you are a mere target achiever, where the passion of recruitment
is measured more in terms of the target achieved and the revenues
generated.
Don't you guys, as recruiters, think that there is something that is
possible between the two options? Where one can have the liberty of
choosing positions to fill, and to get the returns that would be
associated with consulting, and, headcount targets, instead of revenue
targets as in 'corporate' recruitment.
I would like this discussion to move on as a pool of thoughts, where
the alternate to the two extremes, and a more satisfying role of a
recruiter can be coined, and how the solution can be scaled-up to the
entire industry.
Please pool in your ideas.
