Dear Chandu garu,

Namaskaram. I have been following your mails regarding management and your advise suggestions to people seeking employment guidancew are note worthy. What eer you have said in the mail appended below is very correct. But then, all along the right minded people of this country did not bother about wrong doers with a pretext that persons digging the grave will fall in it. Where is Gouravamu, nibaddata, varusa, etc,. If that is there things would not have been as it is now. People are shameless, especially the politicians. A person who has taken a bribe of Rs.10/- (by a peon) is immediately caught and punished. A person who has amassed crores of repuees and when so many cases are filed against the person, still there is no action. Good principles are good, they are to be followed to become good. But to make bad people good, priniciples are not the way, we hve to raise to the occasion and support people like Anna Hazare, Ram dev Baba, and many others who have formed the group to fight AVINITHI in this country.

Dear Rajakumar,

Time and again, when something "bad" comes up for discussion, some
people want to avoid the discussions and search for "more" important
topics! I consider this unfortunate. Let me give you a scenario and
you all decide if discussions like the one on corruption are relevant
to this professional body or not!

Let us say, I have an enterprise and on the look out for people to be
employed. Leaving aside the real talent, I encourage, and employ
people from my family circle, friends, or throught someother
influential source. Don't you think I am corrupt? Is it not what is
happening mostly in our Country? If so, do you agree that more
qualified and really talented people are left out and suffer?

Well, once we understand that nepotism, red-tape etc. kill real talent
and promote cronies - is it not our responsibility to avoid the same
when we are in such positions?

Hundreds of young and talented individuals on this Group, write me all
the time to help them out with a job. While, economic and other must-
be-considered factors do influence employment decisions, over all we
all need to understand that the real damage to talent is being done by
the corrupt practices of Management.

My effort is to create awareness among the aspiring professionals to
be wary of these practices and stand up to them and steer away from
continuing the cycle when they are in positions of responsibility to
deliver.

Let us all improve our skills, wait for our turn, and try to get
employment in a non-corrupt manner. As people generally think -
corruption - is not only limited to politicians but we are all prone
to such practices in our own ways. Maney may or may not be the
criterion in all cases, but giving the opportunity to less deserving
person while the more deserving persons are at hand.

I suggest, for the vicious cycle of corruption to end (or under
check), let us learn to wait for our turn and as we wait - focus on
the real reasons for our wait and fight the real reasons!

Hope I made my take on this clear, and could explain to this august
group, why we need to discuss things like this to learn and figure out
ways to control the same. Because, we are part of the story as well.

Dear Members,

I am pleased to see the response to this thread on controling
corruption!
Let us gather exmples of where people tend to violate "Q".
Let us also try to understand what is at play.

For example:

Stage: Any APSRTC Bus Stop or Station Platform -
A bus pulls into the stop, and people flock to the door(s). Following
scenarios may be true:

1. Number of passengers is greater than the number of seats
2. Number of passengers is less than the number of seats available
3. Irrespective of the number of seats available, 'I-want-to-get-the-
seat-first' attitude
4. I want to get the seat, I do not care about my fellow passengers!
5. Bus is here, I want to get in - nothing else matters.
6. I will throw my towel, some object, and claim that the seat(s) are
reserved for me...
7. No reservation policy in place for this type of buses ...
8. others...

In all these cases, we do not respect the "First Come First Served"
principle.
We do not follow "Q". We are corrupt!
We bank on muscle power, and luck - non management ways.

Suggested solution approaches could be:

1. Make people understand the value of "First Come First Served" - by
making them realize their relative serial number
2. Ensure that all are aware of this and self regulating
3. Improve the infrastructure to facilitate this
4. Encourage people to give priority to the more deserving and
differently abled by celebrating such good gestures...
5. Discourage pople to crowd and break the "Q" - create a sense of
wrong doing through peer pressure
6. Do not honor "throwing towels through windows" - that is nothing
more than cheating!
7. Introduce a simple reservation system - "a free token to assure
that first-come-first-served is honored here!"
8. Your suggestion here...

These simple practices will slowly eliminate the greed in us, and make
resources available to all in an equitable and fair manner.

When someone knows that he/she is not cheated, it is hard for him/her
to cheat others.
Because everyone is good by design!

Let us all pledge that, whereever we go, whatever we do, we keep "Q"
on our mind.

A talented country like India is suffering from unemployment,
primarily because we are not able to encourage enough aspirants to
become entrepreneurs. Hence, we are unable to create quality jobs.

If we look deeper, this is the result of corrupt practices throughout
the system. Our general awareness about the root causes of corruption
should be explored, understood and fixed.

Let us take this challenge and initiate the change in small ways. We
all can influence our families and friends to follow simple rules, and
not be in a hurry to satisfy our greed. When everyone is greedy, no
one can win anyway!

Put on your thinking hats and create the small steps, that are
pragmatic at the same time have tremendous impact on how we live and
prepare the society.

Dear Members,

Siva is correct in pointing out one of the major problems that haunts all of us. Population!

Highly populated countries need not be corrupt. Examples are China and Japan.

Population will gradually reduce if we make illiteracy among women as zero or as minimum possible. Example in our own country is Kerala. This tiny State had already achieved the population growth rate that India is aiming to achieve by 2020.

I wish UN passes a resolution and makes it mandatory for all the countries whose population crosses 1 billion that they must resort to some form of controlled democracy or auotcratic form of Govt so that what the country needs can be implemented with out worrying about the election and vote banks.

China is an example. In China every one is educated (Govt's responsibility) and everyone has a job. One child rule is in force with out any deviation. If you deviate you pay for it. Thier economic growth rate is the highest in the world and they are producing the maximum number of billionaires every year. Democracy serves only the selected few here and no control over corruption. Politics has become a family business. See what is happening at the Center and in States like Tamil Nadu.

Population growth rate and corruption can ultimately destroy the country and make it poorer day by day, and a selected few will become richer.

See the fate of agencies like CBI and ED. Either they are not able to trace the roots of Black Money or they are not willing. Courts have to intervene.

Of course we all can follow the advise and keep our families smaller. But what matters what happens at the bottom of the society. We have to bring them up for this we have to educate them. Govt like in China must be focused to produce results for the common man ant not for themselves.

I can strongly say that population is not a hurdle for growth of any nation. If we take Chaina as an example even though they have  more population comparing with any country in the world they are growing like any thing in all aspects and now they are becoming the super power. Because they are utilizing the resources effectively and efficiently. By god sake we have huge count of human resources. Some countries like Canada are suffering with lack of human resources, but we are failing to use the human resources effectively and we are feeling that as competetion. we have to change our perception and have to find ways to use the human resources properly then no one can stop our developement.

I agree that population is not a problem, but it can be turned into a resource the way China is using. But then you must have a Govt like in China. In India in the name of democracy we have corrupt politicians and Govt officials exploiting the common man and misutilising the resources of the country. Look at the size of the black money and corruption here. For the sake of the country and the common man it is better to sacrifice democracy and move towards other forms of Govt. What works in Singapore and China should work for us.
