hello

intead of constructing a pond in undulated area, you should go for creat check dams or earthern bunds at down places, where steep gradient ocuures

so that you can store water  for long time and develop water level rise

Can you specify the location ?

It is better to first know the slope of the area and amount of water that will be generated during a year.

Thanks !!! so from yr answer I feel like...by use of contour maps I can know the lowest elevation points where by constructing the check dams water can be stored. Am I right ?

No I can't specify the locate because I am asking the general idea or steps or procedure to construct a pond or other water harvesting structure in a 1000 ha undulated land.
