Dear Sir/Madam,
Greeting to you from our Helping Hands Foundation [HHF]
Regarding your email dated 19.12.2024, and regarding our letter about the shortage of small denomination currency notes, we sincerely thank you for your response and the assurance that adequate quantities of currency notes and coins are available for public use.
We would like to clarify that the area experiencing this shortage is specifically the Tirupati region in Andhra Pradesh. We apologize for not explicitly mentioning this in our initial letter dated 8.11.2024, and regret any confusion this may have caused.
Furthermore, we would like to bring to your attention that Mr. Madhava Reddy, a respected member of the Tirupati community, through his representation dated 21.4.2025, clearly indicated that the problem exists in the Tirupati area. For your reference, we are attaching a copy of the representation dated 21.4.2025, received from Mr. Madhava Reddy. You can directly call his phone number provided in his representation to confirm the facts and gain further insight into the situation.
Despite the general availability of small denomination notes, the situation in Tirupati remains challenging. Local businesses, vendors, and residents continue to face difficulties due to an insufficient supply of ₹10, ₹20, ₹50, and ₹100 notes. This shortage has persisted over the past few months, leading to significant inconvenience in daily transactions. For instance, small vendors have reported losing customers because they cannot provide change, and some have resorted to offering candies or other small items instead of cash, which is not a sustainable solution.
We kindly request the Reserve Bank of India to investigate this localized shortage and take appropriate measures to ensure an adequate supply of small denomination currency notes in the Tirupati area. Addressing this issue would greatly benefit the community and support the smooth functioning of the local economy.
The Helping Hands Foundation is committed to assisting in resolving this matter. We are willing to collaborate with local banks and authorities to facilitate the distribution of these notes or to provide additional information on the extent of the shortage if required.
We are confident that with your intervention, this issue can be effectively resolved. Should you need any further details or clarification, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
Regards,
