GRIEVANCE : Outrageous response by Mr. A.M Naik to draft IIM Bill 2015

I have just perused a letter dated 24 June 2015 sent by Shri A.M Naik (Chairperson IIM Ahmedabad Board  of Governors) addressed to Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani, Hon'ble HRD Minister concerning draft IIM Bill 2015.

This letter was apparently widely circulated to IIM-A community and alumni the next, who forwarded it to me.

As a competing stakeholder who has EQUALLY responded to the draft bill by submitting it to the designated email ID indicated in the MHRD's public notice, I voice my strong OBJECTION and PROTEST at Mr. Naik's sinister attempts to bypass the processes by directly writing to the Hon'ble HRD Minister.

In these circumstances, I am formally requesting you to ensure that my own ENTIRE RESPONSE is placed before the Hon'ble HRD Minister for as EQUAL consideration as Mr. A.M Naik's (ie. if Mr. Naik's letter is considered at all).

I would also like to add that when the vexed question of steep fee rise in the older IIMs arose some time back, we had the curious situation that whereas the MHRD's committee found a fee rise of about 21 times in 13 years, the IIM Ahmedabad formally impugned the committee's findings to say that fees at IIM Bangalore had actually risen by 31 times in 13 years, which IIM Bangalore countered by saying IIM Ahmedabad's fees had actually risen 37 times in those 13 years.

This state of affairs has arisen from the public scandal whereby IIM Ahmedabad has retained the same auditors for the past 50 years, and IIMA  and IIMB jointly actively non-cooperated with both the Shunglu and Bhargava/Balakrishnan Committees set up to enquire into their own management and finances.
