Gets clean chit from court in a case of using fake email ID for writing offensive mails cleared In an interesting development, former faculty at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) Prof R_ajnish D_as has written a letter to the premier business school claiming financial damages and offering renewal of ties with the institute. The case was filed against him by the institute in 2012 and was investigated by the cyber crime branch in Ahmedabad. Prof Das was allegedly involved in two controversies, plagiarism and writing offensive emails. In a letter addressed to IIMA director Ashish Nanda on Wednesday, Prof Das has accused ‘cartel of individuals’ that alleged the charges against him. He has also urged the institute ‘to let bygones be bygones’. Das had resigned from the institute in April 2012. The letter, also sent to three deans at the IIMA and the Board of Governors at the institute, also states: “I further request that my terminal legal dues to which I am entitled be disbursed immediately along with reimbursement of the legal expenses that I was forced to take up because of all these false allegations made against me by the above said cartel,” he said. . Cyber crime branch in Ahmedabad has stated that they have sent a request to Google to give IP address and other details to further investigate the case. However, they have not yet received any details
Prof Das has written the letter after additional chief metropolitan magistrate in Ahmedabad ‘relieved him of charges’ and gave him a clean chit in a case regarding use of fake email ID for writing offensive emails.
“Without prejudice to my rights and contentions, I respectfully say and submit at this juncture I do not wish to enter into any kind of litigation against the institute, rather as I was forcefully made to resign from the institute, I would request that considering the said aspect, I be associated back with IIM, Ahmedabad, in my previous assignment and/or even as an adjunct faculty un CISG (primary) and Business Policy (secondary) area,” he stated.
