i)
This Management Science related list is not a FREE-SPEECH or "free for all" list. It is a public and moderated list started by the ETHICAL RESEARCH NETWORK India ("ERNET") originally started at IIM Ahmedabad (but now with chapters planned at all IIMs, other leading MBA institutes and also the engineering colleges) to network, promote & communicate for a)
Ethical Research and b) ancillary issues concerning stakeholders (faculty, staff, researchers, officers,
alumni, students, whistle-blowers, trustees, public servants, affected outsiders etc.) who practise and promote "Ethical Research" in their institutes. ii)
As a matter of policy, ERNET maintains that the Right to Free Speech to private citizens includes the Right to ANONYMOUS speech (within acceptable limits) along with the corresponding obligation imposed on the public bodies to be Transparent.
iii) Previously this list was managed by Team-Anna/Jan Tantra Morcha as part of "Right to Education". However, in view of Annaji's busy tour schedule to coincide with State elections in Nov-Dec 2013, the ERNET initiative is transferred / managed by India Against Corruption w.e.f 03.11.2013 (ie. from Diwali ("Festival of Light" day)
Chapter updates:
IIM Ahmedabad's ERNET Chapter update:
IIM-A students and alumni welcomes proactive approach by Director Ashish Nanda in formulating the new IIM-A cyber policy dated 30.Sept.2013 to promote freedom of speech and expression, enunciated as under.
The Institute promotes research by students in varieties of fields. The Institute upholds freedom of speech and opinions. The
mere fact that online facility allows editing means there is a purpose
behind it, that is people can have divergent views and can express it.
The online platform entries are based on publicly available and
accessible information as a mere attempt to compile existing information
in the public domain without bias. Thus in the IIM-A's opinion we do not find any wrong doing is being done.
