Hi!

Sorry, don't mean to spam you, but one of my best friends is organizing the first ever flash mob in Bombay. Please read the email below.

If you're interested, let me know as soon as possible, so I can put you down as a participant.

Thanks!

As most of you know, the idea of a flash mob has been bouncing around in my head for a while now.
Finally, now, all these scattered thoughts have fallen into place-  and the thought is rolling fast into reality. (much yayness!)

After lots of trudging around, venue permissions have been procured and police permissions are underway. We have a fun choreographer for all the practices, and a team of videographers and editors to shoot us on the day itself.

Now for the main, most important part - The People! The mob!

But before I launch into explaining the plan, I really should catch my breath and explain what a flash mob is in the first place!

Wikipedia gives a fair definition:
"A flash mob is a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and sometimes seemingly pointless act for a brief time, then disperse, often for the purposes of entertainment, satire or artistic expression."

They're all the rage in Europe, America, Australia and other parts of the world.
All their big cities and towns have had fun flash mobs that they upload online.
There has been no such activity within India- the few attempts have been too small to be significant.

I'd like to organise India's first dance flash mob on a spectacular scale.

There are several great international flash mobs, but I'll share one of my favourite ones with you. This flash mob was performed at a railway station in Antwerp, Belgium.
It was 8 am on a Monday morning, and commuters were surprised to see this unfold:

I have no commercial interest in organising this - I'm doing this simply to get Bombay on the map, to see joy rising, to feel alive.
If you'll can be so kind as to support this flash mob, it will be grand!

We are aiming to get anywhere between 200-400 citizen dancers. We've been spreading the word for a while now, and already have a significant number of people interested.

The steps will be fairly easy to grasp - Participants don't have to be super talented, but we are looking for very lively, enthusiastic free dancers :D

Practices will most likely be held at a location on Nepean Sea Road.

Batches will be made - and each dancer has to commit to attending only THREE practice sessions.

Practices will run from SHARP 9:30pm-10:30pm everyday from 14th-26th November. (This time may be altered slightly - depending on the final venue of practices.)

No Charge to the participants! But punctuality is very important because I'll be renting the space per hour.

Thank you so much for lending me your ears so far.

Flash mob is performed on 27th November (evening) at an undisclosed location.

THANK YOU so much!

Again, we do not want any mention of this on the social media. So please do not mention this on Facebook/ Twitter/ Foursquare/ Whatever else

timing - perfect, location - perfect, commitment level required - perfect, dancing skill required - absent.

:'(....would LOVE to, really, but honestly can't dance to save my life.
