Colleges for PG (M.Sc.) course in Biotechnology

Selection for the post graduate courses (M.Sc.) in Biotechnology is
made on the basis of merit. The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU),
Delhi, holds a combined entrance examination every year for admission
to the M.Sc. course in Biotechnology offered at almost 19 universities.
Eligibility for the exam is graduation in Physics, Biology,
Agriculture, Veterinary and Fishery Sciences, Pharmacy, Engineering and
Medical.
The major universities offering the M.Sc. Programme through the joint
entrance exam including (1) BHU, Varanasi (2) Pondicherry University
(3) M.S. University, Baroda (4) Poona University (5) Devi Ahilya
Vishwavidyalaya, Indore (6) Goa University (7) GND University, Amritsar
(8) Cenral University, Hyderabad (9) Madura Kamraj University, Madurai
(10) Punjab University, Chandigarh (11) G.B. Pant University of
Agriculture and technology, Pantnagar (12) JNU New Delhi etc.

Through this examination candidates are also selected for M.Sc. in
Agricultural Biotechnology offered at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural
University Coimbatore and GB Pant University of Agriculture and
Technology, Pantnagar and for the M.Tech programme in Biotechnology at
Anna University, Chennai and Jadavpur University, Calcutta.

While the B.Sc. is of three years duration, the B.Tech course is of
four years and the M.Sc. course programme in Biotechnology offered at
the IITs is five years duration. A post M.Sc. course in Biotechnology
is offered at the Institute of Microbial Technology, Chandigarh.
Research Facilities are available at a number of institutions all over
the country including AIIMS, New Delhi, the India Institute of Science,
Bangalore, the International Centre of Genetic Engineering and
Biotechnology, Mumbai, and the IITs at Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and
Kharagpur, Postdoctoral research facilities are also available at Bose
University, Calcutta and Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of
Science and Technology, New Delhi.
