Job Title: Head – Supply Chain Quality (reports to Head – SCM)

Educational Qualification: PG Degree / Diploma in supply chain management.

Experience: 15 to 20 years of experience in ensuring quality across the supply value chain under SCM environment.

Job Description

 

Head Supply Chain Quality - is responsible ensure Quality across the Supply / Value Chain through establishing and ensuring adherence to strong and fool-proof Quality  systems, processes, standards and Quality Audi and robust review mechanism. He shall be responsible to ensure quality in every step of the SCM Value chain. He shall establish robust Quality Standard Operating Procedures across the stake-holder chain and shall drive the education and training for all concerned to bring in effective implementation of the same. Responsible to establish Company’s Product Quality as a strategic differentiator in the market-place.  Responsible to develop a team of associates to drive Quality Initiatives and systems

 

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

·         Develop Quality Strategy in line with Company’s Business Strategy and inherent Strategic SCM strategy.

·         Develop user friendly SCM based Quality planning, monitoring and Controlling systems, procedures and tools and ensure their consistent understanding and implementation across the Value Chain.

·         Devise SCM – Quality operational Plan to deliver Products as per Business Plan with Q/C/D advantages.

·         Plan for Quality Planning at Vendors, Suppliers and Strategic Chanel Partners operations in line with Company’s Quality Strategy and Policies and ensure strict adherence to the same.

·         Plan for education and training of all stake-holders across the Value Chain for consistent understanding and implementation of systems and processes.

·         Identify and deploy quality, metrics and measurement parameters and  a system for their continuous monitoring, control and improvement.

·         Plan for Resource Management for SCM – Quality Plan and its achievement

·         Enforce delegation of authority as per policy document.

 

Quality Operations:

·         To establish SCM – Quality – Standard Operating Procedures for Procurement, Logistics, Packaging and other allied aspects of SCM Value Chain with an integrated focus. Ensure its consistent understanding and implementation across the businesses / products and geographies

·         Establish Quality Manual for each Product Range clearly defining the role of each function at every stage of SCM Value Chain with stake-holder expectations focus

·         Establish pre-production, during-production and post-production quality measurement and analysis systems and procedures and their consistent execution

·         Plan and conduct Quality Reviews and communicate “Gaps in Quality” addressing specific functional deviations and ensure they are close-looped in a proactive manner and reported to all concerned

·         Provide quality inputs to other stakeholders for planning their respective functional plans and targets in order to have Quality embedded across the SCM Value  Chain

·         Identify and plan for achievement of Best-in-industry Quality Certifications and benchmarks and translate them into adequate and relevant quality systems and procedures and best-practices

·         As a Quality Champion, establish “Quality Appreciation and Recognition systems for individual and team contributions to inculcate “Quality Culture” across the Organization

 

Procurement/ Logistics : Quality Management -

·         Develop and implement Procurement Quality Plan in line with Procurement Plan, Logistics Plan as a part of overall SCM Plan.

·         Ensure Quality Audit based improvements in end to end Procurement and Logistics Function.

·         Sensitize and train Procurement and Logistics associates on the need and delivery of Quality in procurement and its impact on business.  

·         Plan and conduct Quality Review Meetings with Procurement and Logistics on critical to business quality parameters and track implementation of actions initiated for improvement.  

 

Cross – functional quality focus:

·         Establish and implement cross-functional stakeholder expectations based quality metrics and parameters and their deployment through SLA mechanism to meet quality targets

·         Establish cross-functional communication channels to set in Quality Awareness and role clarity towards quality deliverables

·         Identify and conduct training programmes on “Quality of SCM” with cross-functional audience including key stake-holders

·         Establish channels for inviting, consolidating and implementing value-added quality improvement suggestions across the SCM Value Chain and drive their implementation towards the achievement of business objectives

 

Cost focus and process improvement

·         Identify industry best practices and new initiatives in SCM Quality space and for managing procurement, logistics and vendor management with Cost of Quality approach.

·         Direct improvement & standardization of processes and providing guidance in case of critical exceptions, in planning and procurement activities across different products and categories to deliver quality.

 

Stakeholder Management & Customer satisfaction

·         Consolidate quality data and information to help influence and build strong stakeholder relationships with channel partners, vendors / suppliers, government, etc.

·         Coordinate and update Head – Supply Chain Management on Quality Plans  plans, targets, budget allocated, exceptions / critical issues (especially cross-functional issues).

 

People Management

Take responsibility for development of team members and planning for succession; acting as mentor and coach, improving change readiness by providing necessary support and measuring and taking follow up action to ensure employee satisfaction and motivation
