Organisers of next year’s inaugural Indian Grand Prix are confident their circuit will be ready on time, despite recent events in Korea plus the controversy which surrounded New Delhi’s hosting of the Commonwealth Games.
JPSK Sports, with financial support in the region of 350 million US dollars (219 million pounds) from the family-run Jaypee Group, is in the process of constructing a purpose-built venue in Greater Noida, approximately 25 miles south-east of the capital.
India continues to prepare for its first ever Formula 1 race ahead of October 2011 Mark Hughes, Vice President of the company, is
confident that the facility will be ready on time for the race which will take place on 30 October (subject to circuit approval by F1 governing body the FIA).
“As with any large scale project, there might always be the possibility of encountering difficult situations,” he explained to India’s
F1Pulse.com. “However, we are doing everything possible to ensure that our project does not run into any problems.
“We have a team of experienced professionals handling all aspects of building and operating the race track and we have the strength and the resources that are needed to execute a project like this.
“So, we hope things will go off smoothly and we will not encounter any serious problems with the race track or with our inaugural F1 race in 2011.”
