TOTAL recalibration, now that Modi has appointed Swamy as head of its strategic action group.

The cat is out of the bag. Modi has for long tried to deceive India through an image of being a Vikas Purush. Many people (including me) were misled. Despite my reservations about Modi, I was willing to live with BJP as India's major party in the next Lok Sabha. My recommended ranking - which I shared publicly a few days ago - includes BJP after Navbharat/LokSatta, in preference to Congress or AAP. 

But things have changed today, quite dramatically. 

The velvet glove has been pulled out. The iron fist is out. The pretence of Vikas Purush is over. 

This is now clearly about Modi converting INDIA'S REPUBLIC INTO A "HINDU" NATION. How does one know? Because yesterday Modi appointed the madman Swamy sa head of BJP's Strategic Action Committee for 2014 Lok Sabha Election (http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/swamy-to-head-bjps-action-panel/article5852112.ece)

I had thought Swamy was a total fringe lunatic - and was surprised why BJP had not thrown him out. But now he has been placed at the TOP of BJP's electoral strategy.

But what's the problem with Swamy? Isn't he an "economist", and basically irrelevant? Not so, with his new position of power.

Read what Golwalkar (a key RSS leader) wrote some time ago: "The non-Hindu peoples in Hindusthan must either adopt the Hindu culture and language, must learn to respect and hold in reverence Hindu religion, must entertain no ideas but those of glorification of the Hindu race and culture, i.e. they must not only give up their attitude of intolerance and ungratefulness towards this land and its age long traditions but must also cultivate the positive attitude of love and devotion instead – in one word, they must cease to be foreigners, or may stay stay in the country, wholly subordinated to the Hindu nation, claiming nothing, deserving no privileges, far less any preferential treatment – not even citizen’s rights" [Source: http://sabhlokcity.com/2009/02/the-case-against-rss/]

Given this attitude, RSS never got even remotely close to power in India for 65 years, so its vision of India - ENTIRELY antithetical to a liberalism - never eventuated.

In this video he makes clear that once BJP is in a position to do so, it WILL disenfranchise the Muslims. 

He says clearly: "India is a nation of Hindus and those others who acknowledge that their ancestors were Hindus. We are a continuing civilisation. All you have to tell the Election Commission is don't register anybody who doesn't declare that either he is a Hindu or that his ancestors were Hindus. If the Muslims don't agree then run a riot. If we are in a position to do it, we'll do it. Those who live in this country must have some identification with the Hindus. I reject this modern Western liberal Nehruvian concept that India is a republic. Secular is all nonsensical word, I don't know what it means, just bandy it about." 

Modi has always been a hardcore RSS man, diligently following the footsteps of Golwalkar. But now, his pretence being a "Vikas Purush" is over. By appointing the madman Swamy in a powerful BJP role, even as Jaswant Singh was kicked out, he is sending a very strong and clear signal that this election is not about development but about making India a Hindu nation. 

Given this clear position of BJP, I now recommend ANYONE BUT BJP.

3. ANYONE BUT BJP. Even the worst socialist is better than these destroyers of free India.
