We left Patna today :(
We we’re planning on leaving around 8 AM for the clinic to try and shoot Kirti’s video. But, making arrangements for their relatives funeral was no easy feat- we left at 10:30. We only had 10 minutes so we simply said our good byes and headed for Dehli.
The minute I arrived in Dehli I knew it was going to be my favorite place in India. Everything was very western- the way people dressed, the frequency in which people talked in English and the toilettes were not terrifying!
Once Kirti gathered all 4 of our bags (while I was in the bathroom- strong girl I know) we headed out of the airport and quickly found Kirti’s dad. He pointed in the direction of the car and behind us 2 gentlemen took our bags. Not in the way you’d expect in India- they carried them to the car. We hopped in a big SUV and drove to our hotel- the Oberoi. I joke around with Kirti and tell her like Hannah Montana she has “the best of both worlds”. In the U.S. and in Patna she appears to be just a down-to-earth and out-going college student. Her friends are normal people (like me), she drives her own car, and she makes other people her priority. No doubt this is impressive, but in India she is a princess.
We pulled up to our Hotel in Dehli and walked inside…
I know right?

We checked in and stayed only 15 minutes. We packed a small bag together and headed to Agra. After a 4½ hour car ride of some chit-chatting between Dr. K, Kirti and I we arrived at our hotel in Agra- again an Oberoi. I now know where I want to spend my honeymoon. It was absolutely breathtaking at night. I think the thing I loved the most was that frogs were croaking and swimming around in the pool.
Then in the morning I got up, looked out the window, and saw the Taj Mahal directly in front of me.

I decided to get up, stretch my legs and take some more pictures of this beautiful place.

Soon after my walk we headed for the Taj.
The structure was fairly simple- but I think there is a lot of beauty in simplicity. No doubt it’s the most beautiful piece of architecture I’ve ever seen.
It’s entirely made of white marble- inside and out. On the inside precious stones were placed in the marble to create flowers for decoration. It was so intricate and so breathtaking.

After the Taj we went to see how men make marble objects sparkle with precious stones (like we saw in the Taj).

Our last stop in Agra was Agra Fort- which had several beautiful landmarks.

On our long ride back to Dehli we watched the #1 Bollywodd Chick flick- DDLJ (Dilwale Duhania Le Jayenge). I had tears in my eyes by the end. I’m somewhat ashamed because Bollywood films are stereotypically cheesy. But I’m a girl and so I think the tears are justified.
We got to Dehli, ate Chinese and Kirti and I stayed up until 2:30 AM talking.
My last few days here I will be thanking God for the kindness of the Kewalramani family.
