Position: Electrician / Wiremen

Job Location: Central Africa

Education: Associates degree or higher in Electrical Technology, or similar degree.

Exp. Required: 6-15 years

Job Purpose:

Low and medium voltage motor control systems, switchgear, transformers, substations instrument cable and signal cable

Building and area lighting systems

Electric motors and generators

Motor drives systems (synch./induction/DC/VFD)

UPS systems and other power conversion devices.

 

Required Qualifications:

• 4 or more years of experience as an electrician in an industrial, manufacturing, power plant, or electrical distribution environment.
• Working knowledge of the theories and working practices of a journeyman electrician, including, but not limited to:
• Operation and construction of low and medium voltage equipment, including motor starters, circuit breakers, control circuits, induction/synchronous/DC motors, motor drives, UPS systems and other power conversion devices; current transformers (CT) and voltage/potential transformers (VT/PT) circuits and basic relaying circuits; National Electrical Code
• Comfortable and competent to work with energized control and protection circuits within the allowances and requirements of the Electrical Work Practices procedures
• Able to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams as well as troubleshoot control circuits from such drawings.
• Good interpersonal skills are required, both written and verbal.
• The ability to work effectively in a team environment is critical.
• Willing and able to take after hour call duty and work overtime per business needs.
• Good working knowledge of Excel, Word, and standard software tools, etc.
• Be proficient in computers to perform job tasks.
• Effectively manages multiple competing priorities.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Able to communicate with a very diverse population which is spread across the site.
• Strong reading comprehension and listening skills.
• Strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.
• Demonstrate leadership skills - inspire others and lead them through influence.
