Mac, OSX 10.6.5, InDesign CS5

Is anyone else having trouble with the Show Baseline Grid shortcut Opt+Cmd+'? Mine doesn't work. I went to Edit/Keyboard Shortcuts/Show Set and saw that Opt+Cmd+' is listed as the shortcut for show baseline grid and is not found anywhere else in the shortcuts. The shortcut works for everyone else here, just not for me since our upgrade to new computer/OS/CS5.

That shortcut does not work using my custom shortcut set or the default shortcut set. I can add a new shortcut for it, which will work, but the standard shortcut will not work.

It works for me. I'd try turning everything possible off and then seeing if the shortcut seemed to do anything, then turning ID CS5 on and seeing if it worked with everything else turned off. Maybe a System Preferences shortcut? I'm on 10.6.6 rather than 10.6.5, but I doubt that's what it is.

I looked through my system preferences and didn't see anything that used that shortcut. I'm gonna guess it's my system, somehow. IT couldn't get Indy CS3 to work on this new computer--Indy CS5 and all the other CS3 programs work, but Indy CS3 crashes.

Thanks, Rebecca

Yep. Works fine in 10.6.5 CS5 default or custom keyboard shortcuts.

Have you tried deleting all your preferences? (cmd-cntl-opt-shift click on ID Icon and open…)

I had a similar issue with Links… Selection..reveal in finder shortcut control-r in CS4 that was prefs-related.

Deleting prefs didn't help. Oh well. My Indy CS3 also had a few oddities that I learned to live with.

You might see if it'll work in another program than ID CS5 that uses user-definable shortcuts.

Interesting suggestion. I changed the Photoshop View/Show/Grids from Cmd+' to Opt+Cmd+' and it worked fine. Still doesn't work in InDesign though.

Odd. Also with a different keyboard? On both sides of the keyboard you're now using?

Opt+Cmd+' doesn't work on either side of the keyboard. I tested it with two keyboards.

Rebecca,

Go to System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts tab >
Keyboard and
Text Inputs > and switch off the next to last OS shortcut

Hope this helps!

Interesting! With me in 10.6.6, "Move focus to the window drawer" is the fourth from last in the list, has precisely the opt-cmd-' keycode, and is the only one that is unchecked. When I check it, the ID CS5 shortcut doesn't work anymore. So looks like that's it for sure.

It sure is . . . fixed it immediately. Thanks, Mike and everyone else who
chimed in.

Mike,
I know you posted this five years ago, but I've just seen it, tried it and finally! I can turn Baseline on and off again – thanks so much :)
