Is there any way to globally clear the paragraph style overrides in footnotes? I imported the manuscript from our friend Wurd, which means that there are some residual text attributes left to get rid of. My workflow is:

1. Import MSW file.
2. Run several replacements in F/C, e.g., Italic Char Style for keyboard itals, bold for bold, em-dash for --, etc.
3. Run FindChangeByBlist.jsx
4. Select all the text and clear overrides (from Paragraph Styles flyout menu)
5. Then start to apply styles in the regular way

But at Step 4, the Select all does not select the text of the FNs.

The FNs are styled automatically from the Footnote Options dialog box, but there is still that business of the Persistence of Microsoft. When I put my cursor in any FN, the FN style displays a + (I think it's only a matter of spacing/tracking/kerning, but ya never know!)

They're not in the same story, then. I'm not totally acquainted with your situation, but at first glance it looks like you'll either have to repeat your process in the footnote story or go for a (probably simple) scripted solution.

If I'm not mistaken I always know, hovering the cursor over the style name and then seeing exactly what the differences are. Redefining the style on the basis of a selection should get rid of the +, whether you've figured out the difference(s) or not.

Doesn't a F/G grep on "~F" on the style of the note (with including footnotes search) to replace with the style of the note work ?

Hmm I replied too quickly I think ;-)
First I meant a F/C and not a F/G, second, if you force style on one note and notice no changes, this will not do it either.

In my experience, just replacing the footnote style with the same footnote style clears out all the overrides. In other words, in the f/c dialog, with nothing in either the find or change fields, put the name of your footnote tag in both the Find Format and the Change Format and let 'er rip.
