overprinting compound path

I have overprinting on a tiny TM in text. The TM is a compound path that is an anchored object.
How to I get the overprinting off the TM?

Select it w/ the Direct Select Arrow (white, hollow arrow tool) and change it in the Attributes palette.

Can't see why you wouldn't want it to overprint though --- kind of curious as to why you'd need to turn it off?

TM, overprint brings up a preflight error. So figure best to turn if off. No idea why TM overprint is on. Overprinting is something I never remember where to find. So thanks, William.
