Anybody have any experience with .cdx files? These are images in a proprietary format created by the ChemDraw application (chemical structures). Obviously this format isn't supported by InDesign and we are looking at ways to convert them into a suitable format -  ideally, a high-quality vector format (e.g. EPS). This is a job that may need to be done every time the client publishes a catalogue - it's not a one-off conversion. It needs to be automated. We can create scripts in various languages to do the conversion. I'd be interested to know if anybody has done this already.

Cheers

Pat

Here's a page that purports to do it: http://pasilla.health.unm.edu/tomcat/biocomp/convert

It says it will do cdx to pdf, and then from pdf, you can get to eps on your own.

This is just from googling. I have no experience with the filetype or with this page. But I don't see any other converters that take cdx as input.

Yeah I found that too ... interesting, but we need something we can script.

Understood, but it's coming out of a university, and there's probably someone there who can provide an API for you to hook into with a script.

I also have no experience, but it looks like Open Babel can do this:
