We have a problem between InDesign, InCopy and dropbox.

We need to work more within the same company on an InDesign document
with links to multiple InCopy-files. When I place the INDD-file on the
Dropbox, all links with assignment files are systematically broken.
Each person who wants to work in INDD-files has to relink the icma
files.

The dropbox folder is on a MacOS Server (the owner IS the MacOS Server).

How can I fix this?

Thanks a lot...

Olivier.

so you are keeping the InDesign file on a shared folder on a server?
where are the InCopy files -- are they at the same relative path for
everyone who opens the InDesign document? if not, that's probably why
you're having trouble

(i would choose either DropBox or a shared folder on the server, btw,
not mixing them both)

Yes, they are on the same folder. I try with a dropbox folder and a «
simple » shared folder.

I try with the InCopy files on the same folder and on an other folder,
and the result is the same…

I bought this DVD
<http://www.lynda.com/home/displaycoursenotabs.aspx?lpk2=62220&lpk67=true>,
but no explanation about the use of an INDD-files between several
people...

We almost found a solution…
The only problem we have is the synchronization server that does not happen.
We must “Pause Syncing” and “Resume Syncing” manually in the Dropbox
application.

Dropbox seems not to work not with the AFP or SMB protocols.

Thanks.

I've not had that problem,
Could be a proxy issue...
Are you using LAN sync or web?
Have you added Dropbox to your Firewall whitelist?

Thanks.

It's so simple ... Why did not I think of it sooner?

We changed the "hierarchy" of our Mac so they are all identical:
Hard drive name (of every users): "Macintosh HD"
Location of the Dropbox (of every users): Macintosh HD \ Dropbox.

In this way, all files are still pointing in the same place.

Resolved.

Thank you to all.

Hello Jason,

You must have write permissions to the top level of your hard drive. Command + i to get (and change) this information.
