My student wants to put text fields in table cells (to export to fillable PDF forms).  The student is currently just placing the text fields over the table.  If the table is resized, the fields may no longer line up with the correct cells.

Is there a way to convert table cells to text fields?

We also have issues with tab order for some text fields when exported to interactive PDF files.  The fields are listed correctly in the articles panel but groups of 1-2 fields will tab in reversed order.  They are not tagged so are not showing in structure.

Thanks, Tom

?  If you mean is there a way to change the "text fields" (do you mean text frames/boxes?) into table cells… no, not directly.

You'd need to copy the text from each of the text frames into the desired table cell (if you want just the text in the cell)
Table cells can contain text and text size and position in the cell can be adjusted … table> cell options> text .

Or, if the text frames fit inside the table cell (are smaller than it), you could cut the text frame using the solid arrow tool, then paste it into the cell with the Text tool that looks like a "T".
(if you want the text frame -- with it's fill and stroke and in the cell)
The pasted "in-line" text frames still would not resize along with the table.

The only way I know to change a tab order in a form is to fix tab order in Acrobat Pro.

CS6 allows you to create text fields from the buttons panel.  When exported to interactive PDF, they are fillable.

My customer wants to anchor those text fields to table cells (she is just drawing text frames over table cells).  Converting table cells to text fields would be  much more efficient.

Ohh, form fields…

Sorry CS5 here --

Can you select the form field with the solid arrow (Selection) tool and CUT it?

Can you then switch to the Text tool and Paste it into a Cell as an inline object?

I can with buttons, no form fields in CS5 so I can't try.

Don't think there is a way to convert, but if there is, it would be in the Table menu> "Convert to form field"
If there is nothing in the Table menu, you are probably out of luck.
