Any suggestions for a Hosted Shopping cart?

Hey folks,

One of my clients wants to switch from using a pay-once model (via
Auth.net and Paypal) to a subscription model for their web app, and is
also interested in stuff like affiliate programs, coupons, and the
like. Could you recommend any hosted e-commerce or shopping cart
solutions? The one requirement is that the shopping cart must have
some sort of API so the application can know when new subscriptions
are created and canceled.

As you well know, the internet is full to the brim with e-commerce
stuff, so it's incredibly difficult to sort through all the crap.

Any suggestions?

Give http://www.magentocommerce.com/ a shot. It's open source CMS and
the CMS is pretty bad ass.

Magento is pretty bad ass, but unfortunately, does not support subscription products at this time.
