Democracy in Crises
Webinar Series

India, the world's largest democracy, is facing unprecedented challenges to its democratic fabric. The current socio-political landscape is marked by rising authoritarianism, erosion of institutional autonomy, and a shrinking space for dissent and free speech. The Indian Constitution, which enshrines the principles of democracy, secularism, and social justice, is facing threats from various quarters. The recent years have seen a surge in hate crimes, mob lynching, and vigilantism, which have created an atmosphere of fear and intimidation.

The civil society, which has historically played a crucial role in promoting democratic values and holding those in power accountable, is facing unprecedented challenges. Many civil society organizations are facing funding cuts, harassment, and intimidation, which has severely constrained their ability to operate effectively. The need of the hour is to reclaim India's democratic values, promote a culture of critical thinking and dissent, and foster a sense of solidarity and collective action among citizens.

Anhad, for the past few years,  has not been able to work actively on these issues due to severe financial crises and human resources . We have been working on various issues on the ground but our major work around democracy, secularism and communal harmony has suffered . We are starting a series of webinars on the theme of Democracy in Crises. The first webinar is on Friday June 27th, 2025 from 5-7pm . We request you to Join Us.

All those interested in joining the webinar should join by 4.50pm to avoid last minute rush.
