Dear Sir or Madam, dear colleagues,

Since our last update and amidst daily changing news on COVID-19, we have
received very encouraging feedback on moving forward with the planning of
SMiRT 26 as in-person conference. Therefore and as communicated before, we
now take our next step in starting the official call for
abstracts<https://www.smirt26.com/call-for-abstracts>, not forgetting to
keep on monitoring the worldwide situation in the meantime.

In 1971, Thomas Jaeger organised the first conference on “Structural
Mechanics in Reactor Technology” (SMiRT) in Berlin.
Today SMiRT is the premium conference series bringing together nuclear
industry and academic researchers to mark the advances in understanding
and development of engineering solutions for the entire nuclear cycle –
from material science, plant design and construction issues, through safe
operation, reliability, risk, margins and life extension, to
decommissioning and waste disposal.
Coming back to Berlin after 50 years and after the 2020 COVID pandemic,
SMiRT 26 is set to mark the beginning of a new era under the conference
motto “Building the future on 50 Years of experience – It’s SMiRT to
embrace change”.

We kindly invite you to be part of SMiRT 26 in the MARITIM Hotel in Berlin
from 8 – 13 August 2021 by submitting papers to present your technical
achievements, by joining the discussions during the conference, by sharing
state of the art developments, scientific and technological innovations,
as well as presenting your company to the audience.
