What a terrible end to a character, dying while waiting for messages
to end. I don't think time should pass while messages are listed
unless you have a terrible status effect like paralyzation, but that
should be displayed, shouldn't it? It's been a long while since I
played Incursion last.

It sounds like a bug, and I think I encountered something similar
once. Did you not back up saves in case of bugs?
