Propagation and inculturation are two different things.
Constitutional amendment for removing "Propogation" is easily said than done. Will the BJP do it even if it comes with thumping majority? Even if it some how musters courage and over comes its inhibition to touch the constititution, some how it will not stop Inculturation-it will only stop Propagation. There appears to be some confusion in this. The opponents not allow the removal of the word and will cite Human rights violation. They will move international opinion and cite Brahmin chauvinists as the obscurantists for removal of the word "Propagation". We are not masters in crafting opinions like our enemies. The Constitution must be openly criticised by Hindus and much hulla bulla must be created with very high decibels, before it can be even touched and enough record must be created by majority Hindus, who should voice their stiff opposition to the anti-hindu constititution. These are the prliminary steps and there ought to be public demonstrations in every town and village. But Hindus in general are least bothered about the constitutional discrimination and the anti-hindu nature of the constitution .We have to go a long way before opinion can be generated against the constitution from the high pedastal where it was foisted and held before it can be rejected - remember the Constitution has been prasied sky high for the 55 odd years.
There are companies in USA that tried to take patent for Basmathi rice. I saw in JETIX a cartoon charecter resembling 'Kathakali' face mask. In AXN network Mahvishmu is shown in the promotional as a bizzare icon. In a hollywood film MAHA KALI is shown as blood thristy God of voodo cults. These are samples of abuse and misuse of Hindu dieties and objects of worship which include trees like the Neem, Banyan etc. We need to protect Hindu Heritage through a comprehensive set of legislations at central and state levels similar to TRIPS, IPR , these (items) of Hindu heritage must be declared belonging Hindu Systems of Philosophy, Worship, Temples, festivals, arts, archtecture etc. Once you declare the State as Hindu and the constitution as a Hindu constitution backed and supported by a set of legistations then you can say we are safe. How can you stop such abuse of our dieties by costitutional amedment?
Unless the State is Hindu, it cannot even take up the subject as an agenda (by the external affairs minister) with any external agency like the Holly Wood film producer or with the US patent office. These are cumbersome procedures and it is not the job of an inividual or any group, however big it may be it is rather the job of the State to protect its Civilizational heritage from predators and vandals .Missionaries are vandfals on the prowl .The editorial is just one step towards increasing the decibels.
Sincerely,
GP.Srinivasan
