Hello friends. Our SPC team leader kavitha has given us some GD
topics. lets have discussion on them and get new ideas about each
topic. lets start with the first one.

Is management an art or a science?

management is both an art and science. its an art as it involves
innovation, creativity, executive skills etc., and its science as it
involves systematic processes, plans etc.

management is both arts and science, As you all know magt means doing
the things in a right way or manageing the things properly, science is
a systamatic way of doing things and art means doing things in a
creative way but both at the end tend to achevie a required result.so
to achevie things we cannt tell that we have to follow only systamatic
way or creative manner it all depends on situtation and thing on which
we are working on.. ...........

Management is a set of activities (including planning and decision
making, organizing, leading, and controlling) directed at an
organization's resources (human, financial, physical, and information)
with the aim of achieving organizational goals in an efficient and
effective manner. A manager is someone whose primary responsibility is
to carry out the management process within an organization. The
effective practice of management requires a synthesis of science and
art; that is, a blend of rational objectivity and intuitive insight.
Good management is a mixture of art and science.

Managing is working with and through other people to accomplish the
objectives of both the organizations and its members

Hello friends,
acccording to my view management is both art as well as science,
coming to arts - management of arts is a practice that has been
followed from ages and we also know that perfection is very much
essential in each and every individual which makes the man perfect ,
by that time we can identify and rectify our mistakes that is art
coming to science - there will be both cause and effect
relationship, that will also practiced from ages where there is a
strong bond i.e.,relationship
finally good management is a mixture of art and science, like if
manager try to be scientific, they often solve the problems and make
decisions is related to arts .....

Hello friends according to me,

Art refers to a diverse range of human activities, creations, and expressions that are appealing to the emotions of a human individual which is very essential in the management of any organization

Science  refers to the organized body of organization with different departments in that system which is nothing but management. formally, the word science often describes any systematic field of study or the knowledge gained from it. Science is Knowledge attained through study or practice, which uses observation and experimentation to describe and explain the actual pulse of any organization.

It is like our 2 hands we cant clap in one hand right?…

So it is both science as well as art……….

i aapreciate smitha's words that management is followed from ages and
it is also like cause and effect process. yes it is follwed from ages.
but these days management has acquired so much of importance that it
is given special attention which our ancestors didn't give but managed
to manage in a systematic way. the way an organization is carried out
is the cause and the result of it is the effect which is directly
related to the cause of the process.

i accept Hani's words that management when seen from arts point of
view, it represents creativity, expressions etc. when seen from
sceince point of view it represents systematic executiion of
creativity. there is always a connection between arts and science.

Management is both an art and science. Almost anyone can learn how to be a manager but the art of it is to become a great manager. Anyone can see the results of a bad manager easy enough but what happens when you have a good manager in circumstances that heavily tax his ability to manage? What happens when the good manager under too much stress for too long has a bad day? The answer may be that he becomes a bad manager. What happens to a great manager when he faces hardships that would crush most managers? He innovates he takes the weaknesses of his situation and tries to make them strengths. In the hardest times is when you find the greatest managers and these managers bring this science to an art form.
