Again it was another Monotonous week in the making until I got a mail from my Colleague turned friend  Arun Sekhar about a cycling trip to outskirts of Chennai to a place called Cholavaram wich was being organised by Arun K (here after referred to as AK).

So I decided to end this rather boring weekend with a good note and decided to join AK. Contacted AK and the arrangement was made to meet up under the Gemini bridge.
on  7th April unlike all the other ordinary day I got up at 4.30 and was ready to hit  the road.
Met AK and Suriya under Gemini and we started Our ride , Our plan was to reach Cholavaram before the temperature shoots up.
Our first destination was the Redhills Lake/Puzhal Lake it is one of the two rain-fed reservoirs from where water is drawn for supply to Chennai City, the other one being the Chembarambakkam Lake .

Jones Tower

The path way surrounding the Redhills lake was a major hangout spot for the morning walkers and runners in and around that area. We cycled our way through the running and walking groups and stopped near the large intake tower bearing the writings "Jones Tower 1881". We spent another half an hour ther clicking few photographs and decided to have breakfast some where nearby.

TroubleShooting

After the breakfast we resumed our ride and reached Cholavaram where we took a detour to offroad , it was a stretch of  20km of excitement we rode through forest trails,clay quarries and through the lake shore .We had to cut short our excitement since it was getting hotter so we planned to take a short nap inside the Cashew plantations around there till the heat subsidized and resume our return journey in the evening.

After Offroading

After a short nap we were ready to hit the road then to our horror we found that suriya's bike had a flat tyre. So we had delay our start and we started fixing the puncture once it was  done ,another jolt came when I found that Mine and AK's bike had flat tyres, fixing the flats ate up another 20 minutes.got some useful gyan on flat fixing from AK. Once when everything was done it was already 4.30 .We started the second phase of our off-roading which was around 15 km, we crossed the lake,old aerodrome and entered the NH ,It was a kind of race against the traffic and reached Chennai by 8. I still feel Im too lazy to express all my experience of the ride through words so im posting the photos here.

After reaching Chennai when I told one of my friend that I covered 90Km on bicycle rather proudly. The reply I got was "Cycling Are you nuts?? ,Grow Up Bro!!"
Well it was rightly said "Cycling is just like church. Many attend, but few understand."
