Hi all,

Great meeting today!

For current students: please contact Karen Wilson at krwilson@umich.edu with times you can meet in order to set up your login into the secure machines.

For graduates: we're still figuring this one out.  Our department manager has been making inquiries, and it turns out that it's extremely uncommon in the college of LSA for someone who isn't currently an enrolled student to have access to secure data .  There is hope, as at least one other unit has protocol for this situation, but it's not clear whether that will work for us.

Hey, all,

If you're a graduate and need to write code that uses secure data: I've added a "zeroobs" folder to Dropbox.  It replicates the directory structure on the secure data drive and contains zero-observation versions of the data you'll work with.  That means the data files contain all the variables of the actual data so you can write your code, but don't violate security protocol because they contain no actual data.  Those of you who haven't graduated but don't yet have access to the data (which is all of you) might find these zero-obs datasets useful as well.
